Lots of good stuff to talk about. On the literature front, my first "review" will be of Philip Roth's newest, Indignation. It is told from the perspective of a Newark-born Jew attending Winesburg College in Ohio and his unpredictable stay there. Sometimes funny, sometimes unbearably sad, and always captivating, the book has all of the necessary masturbation and sex jokes that come standard with the other Roth novel I've read, Portnoy's Complaint plus some very interesting and complex emotional dilemmas. The twists (which I obviously can't say) are enough to pull the weight of this book, which I give 3.5 stars out of 5 - I'm a tough critic.
On the baseball front, there has yet to be a noteworthy MLB transaction in the last few days, but the Astros recently made a small, but noteworthy move, receiving once highly touted lefty Tyler Lumsden from Kansas City. Lumsden, 25, was once a top White Sox prospect but his star has dimmed after a few rough AAA seasons. I personally like this move a lot - nothing to lose, a lot to gain. He still has options left so if he sucks at the Major League level (if he makes it), the Minors are still an option. Having too many lefties is never a bad thing.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank my friends and family for always being there for me - in case I'm not able to tell them the same on Thanksgiving.
To all of you, enjoy your holiday and don't forget to tell the ones you love thank you!
